Spårvägsmuseet

Stockholm city plans to build a new residential area on the property where the current railway museum is located.
Our mission was to help the Swedish Transport Administration to find a new suitable location and develop the architectural concept for a new museum.

After studying a number of alternative locations, the choice fell on the gasworks regeneration house - House 9, in the Gasworks area at Hjorthagen.A magnificent industrial district from 1897, designed by Ferdinand Boberg.

In this iconic brick cathedral we have developed an architectural concept based on a "Box in Box" method.
Where we preserve, improve and strengthen the origin of the building ,while adding minimalistic boxes that provide both the necessary functionality and create new graceful spaces and the feeling of urbanity, with a clear link to the museum's DNA.
